The Conservation Foundation

Posted by Susan Ponsolle on 03-16-07

The Conservation Foundation was established in 1972 by business and community leaders as a not-for-profit land and watershed protection organization.

Their mission: to preserve open space and natural lands, protect rivers and watersheds and promote stewardship of our environment.

The Conservation Foundation protects and enhances rivers and watersheds by improving water quality and stream ecosystems, preserving stream corridors, and increasing citizen awareness in Northeastern Illinois. This is accomplished through watershed planning, management and restoration.

To achieve this goal the Foundation has developed grass roots, citizen groups to increase awareness of watershed issues and develop and implement watershed management plans. These groups include the DuPage River Coalition and Big Rock Creek Watershed Committee. In both of these watersheds we are the lead organization coordinating efforts with all stakeholders.

Visit the Conservation Foundation's website to learn more about what we can all do to improve our own natural lands, rivers and watersheds.
