Earth Day - Why it Matters Now, More than Ever
Posted by Susan Ponsolle on 03-26-07
Today, 37 years after the first Earth Day, we face the worldwide crisis of global warming. Daily, we see and hear news stories about climate change and the consequences if we don’t act now to curb our consumption of fossil fuels.
Here are some ways you can help this Earth Day and all year round:
- Attend an Earth Day event or organize one of your own.
- Change your light bulbs Buy energy efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs)
- Drive your car differently – or drive a different car altogether
- Your house – not too hot, not too cold - Half your household energy costs go towards heating and cooling.
- Turn on your "energy saver" switch on your refrigerator. Clean the condenser coil.
- If you invest, invest in green stocks and renewable energy companies through socially responsible funds.
